The luxury of vanilla
Vanilla’s warm fragrance evokes childhood memories: ice-creams at the beach, vanilla milkshakes and fluffy sponges. Its milky warmth recalls homemade treats and motherly love. No wonder vanilla-scented perfumes and skin care products are so popular.
Vanilla essence comes from the pod of the orchid Vanilla planifolia, the only orchid that bears fruit. After the Spanish conquistador Cortez observed Aztec emperor Montezuma drinking vanilla-scented chocolate, he took both vanilla and chocolate back to Spain. Originally from south-eastern Mexico, vanilla is now mainly exported by Madagascar and Réunion.
A recent French study (view report) has shown that dabbing vanilla essence on the pillows of premature babies suffering from sleep apnoea (where they forget to breathe) reduces the frequency of attacks. A cream such as our Vanilla Jojoba Hand and Body Cream* can calm and soothe when gently massaged in during labour.

Vanilla planifolia
Malka’s Vanilla Jojoba Hand and Body Cream combines essential oil of jasmine with vanilla. Just a hint of jasmine enhances and lifts other perfume blends making this cream a treat, rather than a treatment cream.
A gift in itself: in its glossy white bag, our vanilla cream is a unique and luxurious gift.
